Gateway International High School (GIHS) is a great place to be! On behalf of our entire staff, we welcome all students and families. Also, we extend a special welcome to our new students and families who are joining our “GIHS”. We look forward to working and learning with all of you throughout the coming school year. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning, READING, and growing together. As we continue with our focus on literacy, we, along with parents, will encourage children to set goals for reading that will help to develop a life-long habit and love of reading. Students need to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each day at home. To encourage our students to “Just Read” we will continue to have students and their parents complete a weekly /monthly reading log. Completed weekly/monthly logs will qualify students for our monthly prize draws.
At GIHS, we believe that an emphasis on early childhood education is of vital importance in promoting future success in learning. Therefore, we offer a Prekindergarten program. The Holistic approach learning continues to be implemented in our early childhood education programme...
We provide students with a school handbook and calendar that serves to familiarize students and parents with expectations and procedures and other information that helps to maintain a positive learning environment in our school. The monthly calendars are intended to help keep parents informed about upcoming events. Because good communication between the school and the home is so integral to student success, we also strive to keep parents informed and updated through Parent Orientation Programmes, notices, telephone calls and can be accessed online website. Parents can also keep up-to-date with school happenings by calling our information line at 7036116111.
Our main goal is the academic development of each student. We are fully committed to this eternal journey of continuous improvement. Our staff works smart to ensure that each child is given the necessary tools for lifelong learning in literacy, numeracy and critical and creative thinking. We encourage students to develop personal and social values and skills (character education). Our students are encouraged to become involved in a wide variety of educational experiences, both curricular and extra-curricular.
GIHS offers many educational and community-based opportunities for students 4 and parents; We invite parents to become engaged in the life of the school. Volunteers are our treasured resources! Parents are invited to share their talents, expertise, and enthusiasm to help us enhance student learning opportunities. School culture is much more positive and rich when parents are an integral part of the planning and delivery of school programs.
We have an active and enthusiastic School Community Council (SCC). The SCC has an important advisory role in shaping the learning opportunities. We believe that as we (the school and the home) collaborate and work together, we can ensure that each student will receive the best learning experiences possible and the confidence to be a lifelong learner. We look forward to an exciting year of learning as we embark on a new school year..!
